Steve was born and raised in Texas.  As a youngster he began searching for God.  By attending an eclectic mix of churches he gained a traditional yet meaningful relationship with God.   While attending Texas A&M University he decided to pursue a vocation as a Christian minister.   Specifically Steve felt led to ministry in and around national parks.  After obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Education he worked for several years as public school teacher in the mountains of west Texas.  There he volunteered, doing ministry and guiding backpacking trips at Big Bend National Park and Guadalupe Mountains National Park.  Steve also served as a EMT for the county hospital.  Taking his wife and two boys the family moved to the San Francisco area.  There Steve went to seminary and graduated with a Master's degree in Religious Education.  Soon after that Steve was hired to direct a Christian ministry in Yosemite National Park.  He did ministry to young adults and guided backpacking and climbing trips in Yosemite for 18 years.  Because of the "Oh Shit! It's Jesus!" book Steve had to resign his position in Yosemite that was supported by a Christian denomination.  Steve and his wife now live in Denver and and are startng and leading a new church, the Tribe of Jesus.   Knowing that the real and relevant message of Jesus has been corrupted by culture and tradition, Steve continues to help friends hear and know the reality of Jesus.
